Come out on Sunday, 1/17, as I continue to wear out my welcome at Amherst's The Drake, this time opening for two legendary acts: Spectre Folk and Mark Robinson.
Flyer by Pete Nolan
Note: "Willy Lane" = "Willie Lane"
Very excited for this upcoming date at the enchanting Dream Away Lodge in Becket, MA, where I'll be bolstered by the profound bass of Rob Thomas and the thrilling percussion of Will Amend. It's possible that we'll play two sets if the crowd demands it! Come watch us roll where the Rolling Thunder Review once rolled.
Announcing two shows in the upstate NY region:
Fri, August 8 @ Old Books in Hudson, NY (w/ the great P. G. Six: https://www.instagram.com/oldbookshudson/)
Sat, August 9 @ Carbon Fest in Rochester, NY (w/ many other excellent performers spread over several days: https://carbonrecordsfest.com/)
Yep, I'll be playing OUT OF TOWN! I'm hoping to have a small band for both of these events and will be practicing hard in the meantime to bring good sounds to the people.
DJ's Steve and Erin McGuirl will twirl fine sounds, and there'll possibly be a little fire outside later in the evening.
8-11 PM.
Things are heating up here at the CORD-ART Blog!
Announcing the new Willie Lane LP, Bobcat Turnaround.
Numbered edition of 350.
"Willie Lane experienced a setback shortly after A Pine Tree Shilling’s Worth when the errata sheet to a Deke Leonard memoir somehow flew from his pocket into the wood chipper. Our hero then plunged BOTH of his hands in to save the holy page and parted ways with his ability to pluck and fret. Everyone at CORD-ART was understandably devastated when the local vet said that it would be a year before his claws grew back. Seeing as singing was all Lane was “good” for, we loaded data (such as vital signs, IQ, what sorta pedals were lying around the house, etc.) into some of that AI that’s all the rage and got a decent approximation of what our boy’s signature homespun folkpsychblues guitar puttering would sound like today if that errata sheet had stayed put. Providing the human intelligence is ace drummer Ryan Jewell, who applies his high-functioning hands to two exquisite tracks; and the legendary Sunburned Rob Thomas, whose singular bass inventions are heavily leaned-upon for most of the album. And to our surprise W.L. took to the vocals with no little gusto! The results are something Deke should smile about. Thankfully, W.L. has shown some progress in the regeneration of his digits and was able to assemble a color paste-on cover in the old style of our forebears, and we haven’t seen one so fetching this side of the Departmentstore Santas for a long time."
